About Me

Who I am…

I am a mother, a grandmother of 6 and a midwife. I am not sure which part of me is the strongest. I think all that I am is interwoven with my life, job, calling blending into the person I am.

I was a “mature” student 15 years ago at the tender age of 42 when I decided to change my life completely. I became a midwife at 45 and have never looked back. Beginning study at such an age was challenging, however I found an absolute joy of learning more. After my first year of practice I began my Post-grad study, never intending to take it far. I then kept going and eventually completed my Master of Science (Midwifery) with Honours (much to my surprise) in 2019. I discovered my interest in Maternal Mental Health grew from personal experience and from the participants of my Master’s research. I embarked on my Doctorate in 2020 because well why not, an epidemic and the world changing, it seemed a good time.
